Nkhensani Masekoa is the Chief Research Operations Officer (CROO) at the Mine Health and Safety Council responsible for overseeing research programme implementation and management to improve the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in the South African Mining Industry (SAMI). Her role also entails committee oversight and development of advice from research outcomes to the Minister of Mineral Resources. Council is also in the process of establishing a Center of Excellence which falls under her portfolio, that seeks to conduct specific research through primary service providers, assist with implementation of research through technology and knowledge transfer. The CoE will also address the issue of skills shortages and transfer in the SAMI.
Nkhensani is a goal directed South African Professional female with over 18 years working experience emanating from the academia, part time consultant and the public sector. She have acquired a Master of Public Health degree from University of Limpopo, an executive development programme course from WITS and currently a fourth year PHD student at UNISA. She has strong knowledge of Research, Policy Development, Project Management and Stakeholder Management. In the academic environment, she acquired sound knowledge of teaching, research methodology, proposal development and project management, data and information management, report writing. Her responsibility as public health specialist involved also community projects in collaboration with health public health care centers, nongovernmental organizations and faith based organizations to facilitate collaboration in health care delivery.
As a Director Occupational Health Policy, she was responsible for providing leadership in the development of Policy agenda and facilitate research that translate into formulation of Occupational Health Policies for the Mining Sector in South Africa. The opportunity provided her with knowledge and skills in the management of human and financial resources of the unit to meet the strategic objectives of the Department of Mineral Resources.
